Despite industry rethinking and discussions in respect to healing our Earth, CO2 pollution rose above pre-pandemic levels this year. In order to maintain a sustainable and equitable future, we have until 2030 to reduce our emissions by 45% in order to limit global warming. We have an important responsibility to ensure the safety of our communities by protecting our earth.
There are multiple ways we can reduce our climate impact like:
- Firstly, committing to support climate and environmental literacy is an important aspect in developing a society that will take effective action.
- Each year the Earth loses 18 million acres of forests, nearly 27 soccer fields each minute. Planting a tree with initiatives like Earth Day’s Canopy Project can help improve local communities, reinforce species habitats, and combat climate change.
- Nearly 4 trillion plastic bags are used yearly, with only 1% ever being recycled. Carrying a reusable bag when shopping and becoming more conscious of our general purchasing efforts can significantly reduce our carbon imprint.
- Taking civic action by voicing our concerns to local politicians and joining local campaign groups, whether it be on the Earth Day website or donating to various environmental organizations like Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund, will push toward systemic changes that will benefit our planet.
As KROST continues to grow, we have an increasing responsibility to commit additional resources toward our values in order to maximize the positive impact of our products. We’ve partnered with EcoCart to empower our community to make their orders 100% carbon neutral.
We’ve also produced our first upcycled capsule this year, in which each product was made entirely from excess fabrics and materials rom previous collections! Check out The Upcycle 2021 Capsule Here
